Habits I want to develop while under quarantine.

Might as well put the time to good use.

My local county health department issued a quarantine order that goes into effect at 5:00pm tonight, but we’ve been more or less quarantined the last few days since nothing is open and there isn’t much to go out and do. I live alone in a 400 square foot studio apartment and my primary work has ground to a halt as a result of the pandemic. In other words, I’m a prime candidate for losing my mind in the coming weeks.

In an effort to use all this extra time, I’ve resolved to work on developing and refining some habits. At the very least these habits with make the quarantine less of a waste of time and provide a little structure to the long days; hopefully I’ll come out a better person on the other end because of these new habits.

Less screen time.

I’ve gotten annoyed with my phone surprisingly quickly. The constant refreshing of the news; the endless scrolling of social media; the hours that pass in the blink of an eye while staring at my phone. If I’m being honest, nothing positive is going to come from my phone. Literally nothing. All it’s going to do is suck up all this free time I’ve been gifted. So I’ve deleted apps, turned notifications off, placed it across the room, no longer sleep with it, and liberally…
